The A C Residence stands out with its central theme of wooden tonal. The designer has carefully selected materials with different wood grains, which are combined with white marble stones. This combination creates a profound and exquisite spatial atmosphere, with the natural grains of the wood and marble adding a touch of elegance to the space.
One of the notable features of this square-shaped non-decorated house is the clever use of materials to divide each area. Vertical and axis materials subtly separate different spaces, while maintaining a smooth and transparent traffic flow. Glass materials are strategically incorporated to create visual extensions and enhance the overall spatial experience.
The realization of the A C Residence involved the use of various materials, including marbles, artificial stones, painted copper plates, karaya veneer, painted solid veneer plates, and laminated wooden floorings. These materials were carefully selected to achieve the desired aesthetic and functionality of the design.
The 32-ping residence features a semi-open-end public area with three rooms. The segmentation of the wooden-grained materials delivers a simple and neat aesthetic, while the contrast between the plates and the ceiling linear adds a touch of vertical and horizontal dynamism. The furniture, in ecology colors, complements the overall design, creating a pleasant and moderate scene.
One of the key considerations in the design of the A C Residence was the usability and enjoyment of the children. The designer incorporated an expansive hallway in the public area, selected lower furniture arrangements, and included a dedicated kid's room. This allows the children to have fun and explore freely within the residence. The warm touches of the wooden materials and the seamless transitions between areas create a peaceful and accessible environment for both adults and kids.
The A C Residence was completed in April 2015 in Taiwan after a year-long project that started in March 2014. Throughout the design process, extensive research was conducted to select materials and elements that would enhance the performance and aesthetics of each area. The use of waterproof and stain-resistant kitchen countertops, the careful selection of low furniture, and the incorporation of wooden tones to soften the beam-column are just a few examples of the thoughtful design choices made.
One of the challenges faced during the design process was the existing beam-column built above the television wall. To address this, the designer used rough wooden materials to segment the space, softening the sense of towering. Linear lightings in light yellow were also embedded to create a more expansive and transparent spatial feeling. The use of different materials in the same color tones, the arrangement of the semi-open-end, and the glass facades further contribute to the clarity and harmony of the residence.
The A C Residence is a testament to the beauty of simplicity and the harmonious integration of natural elements. The combination of white color tones and wooden elements throughout the residence creates a refreshing and relaxing spatial feeling. The abundant use of lightings draws warm daylight into the indoor space, adding a sense of gentleness and freshness. The carefully chosen furniture enhances the elegance and harmony of the transformation between areas, creating a truly serene living environment.
With its unique design and thoughtful execution, the A C Residence was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2022. This prestigious award recognizes the outstanding creativity and ingenuity of the design, as well as its contribution to improving the quality of life through art, science, design, and technology.
